The package is perfect for everyone who would prefer to spend the time actively, e.g. go on a hiking expedition through the magnificent Dinaric forests rather than sit and wait hours at the same spot. Early in the morning or early in the afternoon (as per agreement), the guide will pick you up at your place of accommodation or any other place you arrange to meet and take you in a jeep to the central military training area of the Slovenian army, where you’ll be leaving the vehicle. From there, you will continue on foot, deep into the forest, following hunters’ walking trails. You will be shown different hunting observatories along the way where wild animals come daily to get food left for them by hunters. If you are lucky, you might even get to see them. You will also be shown a video footage of the local wildlife. A climb up to the top of the Sv. Trojica (Holy Trinity) Hill at an altitude of 1106 m and Lonica at the altitude of 1123 m will follow, where you will be able to enjoy a wonderful view of the intermittent lakes all the way to the surrounding Slovenian Alps. While enjoying the view, you will be served lunch consisting of traditional local food. After the lunch break, you will head back to your vehicle along the same path. Recommended equipment: hiking clothes and footwear, hiking rods, rucksack and refreshments.

Meal with local food is provided by ‘Smrekarjeva domačija’, an agrotourism farm and guesthouse, located at Grobišče, a village about 3.5 km south west of Postojna. They use organic livestock farming systems and raise autochthonous breeds of Cika cattle, pigs (black-belted pig) and donkeys. Their restaurant serves not only home cooked traditional meals and fresh-baked bread, but you can choose from a selection of homemade juices and spirits. There are five rooms and a suite available for guests.
